It is the Sunday evening after Christmas and I still can’t believe Christmas has come and gone already. Will is in the other room watching the original Batman movie from 1966 ( which I watched as a kid ) and Jess is ironing… snow is still falling outside… and aside from 2 work days this coming week, we have another nice break ahead of us to continue enjoying lots of great family time… which is one of the reasons I can’t believe the holidays are cruising by so fast – it is such a wonderful time to relax and enjoy each other.
We spent Christmas Eve over at Jess’ parents then returned home in time for books and leaving cookies, milk, and carrots out for Santa… then it was off to bed. In the morning, we awoke to find that Santa had visited overnight and left Will ( among other things ) the Playmobil Hospital he has wanted for the better part of 2008. We also have it on good authority that it took Santa’s elves ( or more specifically, one lucky elf ) 3 hours to assemble the hospital, having dealt with 32 pages of assembly instructions and well over a couple of hundred pieces…. which also roughly explains the picture of me about 5 hours later. Speaking of 5 hours later, did I mention that Will was up by 5:20am? We spent the rest of the day playing, getting ready for Christmas dinner, playing, eating, and playing some more.
As a side note, Santa gave both Will and myself Nerf N-Strike Dart Blasters and I have to say that I haven’t enjoyed a toy as much as these badboys in a long time! I would highly recommend them for that inner swat-team member in you!
Ho Ho Ho…. Merry Christmas!

A little late in posting these, but we put up the Unger Family Christmas Tree and the now fabled ( in my mind at least ) Christmas Train Tree about a week and a half ago. Will acted as self-appointment project supervisor and spent most of the afternoon putting up and rearranging ornaments.
The tree was still a bit frozen when we brought it inside, but Will hung the first customary ornament with care and precision. After that, it was a free-for-all. Watching Will was one of those times that you sit in wonderment over the pure joy that someone can have in hanging and rehanging a Snoopy ornament 15 times… oh to be a kid again!

I cannot believe that Christmas was already a week ago! It seems as though you wait all year for it, only to have the holidays slip past in a blink. And this year was no different.
Being almost 3, Will “got” the idea of Christmas quite a bit more than last year. We went to Jess’ parents on Christmas Eve and then spent Christmas day at home. Santa came during the night and Will was amazed to see that Santa had taken a bite of cookie and that the reindeer had nibbled on “those special Santa carrots.”
Merry Christmas and we’ll see you next year!

Though there still isn’t any snow outside, I went through our Christmas pictures and found a couple more from the holiday season that I wanted to throw online. It seems as though the few short weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas take an eternity to arrive but only a blink to pass. Luckily, pictures and videos help to keep the spirit alive.
Be sure the click the link below and scroll down to see the 2 videos as well…

We just took the Christmas tree down today and I can’t believe how quickly the season has flown by this year! It seems like just yesterday Will was waking from his nap to find a gorgeously decorated tree sitting in the middle of his living room! It became a daily ritual for him to run to the tree and wait for us to turn it on, to look for the “birds nest” in the tree, and constantly reposition “his” Sesame Street ornaments. I think it was the best holiday we’ve had!
The actual Christmas festivities had us at Grandma and Grandpa’s for Christmas Eve where Will found a John Deere tractor just for him! He thought it might be Grandpa’s tractor, but has since realized it is his. Christmas Day was spent at home where Santa came and was good to all of us… and once again, HoosierSanta made his 2nd annual drop to our house.
I still have a couple more posts to do: I have some video clips to put up from our “Train Tree” and also of Will and his new tractor. Look for those in the next day or two.
Happy Holidays!
