We finally saw some sunlight here in northern Michigan and as Will awoke from his afternoon nap, I decided to test out the new camera in natural light… and Will was quite the model! I hope you enjoy them as must as I did taking them!
I realized something this morning as I was lost in thought feeding Will: my wife and I tell each other when we need to use the restroom (I never said I was lost in deep thought). Not exactly the kind of thing one announces to the world, but it is a perfect example of how our lives have been subtly changed. And a very subtle change it was, as I just don’t remember that point when I felt the need to tell Jess of my bodily demands. I don’t think I awoke one day and decided “this is the day I become more excrementally vocal”; I am pretty certain it wasn’t a New Year’s resolution, though if it was, major kudos to me for actually keeping a New Year’s resolution; and I am positive Jess didn’t ask me to keep her informed on these matters. It just sort of happened.
In defense of this practice, I would like to point out that it was borne from a need to keep an eye on Will and neither of us want to watch him while taking care of business. I could go into much more detail here, but I will spare you the trauma. Point is, as a parent you do things that you didn’t used to do… but you also don’t consciously make the choice to do them. They just subtly happen and you roll right along with them without thinking twice. Unless, of course, you have to use the restroom. Then you pause long enough to tell your wife where you are going.
A few notes on the pictures: Will recently got his very first real haircut and he looks adorable! Also check out the series of him in his green shirt: he is trying to put shapes into a container and gets VERY frustrated!
Jess surprised me this Christmas and bought me a super sweet new digital camera and a couple of accessories. I have been playing around with it a lot to get the right exposure and flash settings down, but I have been blown away by how incredible this camera is! So… hopefully the quality of the pictures that I post from here on out will be better than before. I have included in this gallery some of the better shots, so let me know what you think! side note: I have not enhanced any of the pictures beyond cropping 2 of them. They are all in their original color settings, etc.
Lot’s of great things happened to me in 2005, so I decided to post a few of them:
THANK YOU 2005!

Will was born and he grew alot!
It is amazing to look at pictures of Will when he was born and at Christmas time and see the difference that 10 months makes. He has brought endless joy to our house and 2006 will be even better!

I caught more fish fly fishing
Actually, about 6 of them (to be exact). And though they were all on the smallish side, I am still quite proud that I can be called a fly fisherman… in some circles… very small ones… with people that don’t know much about fly fishing… and can’t see very well either…

I continued rocking out
I use that term very loosely, but I enjoy it nonetheless!
