Making the decision to have a child — it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

That is a quote by Elizabeth Stone that my mom just passed along, and it seemed quite fitting after our first “parent scare” over the weekend. And considering that Will’s Grandpa Roger has already been promising (or threatening, depending upon which side you are on) lots of “farm time” for Will, there are certain to be plenty more over the years. I can already hear it: “I am not sure what happened. One minute he was climbing the manure pile and the next… well…”

We had another follow-up doctor appointment this morning (we saw fellow jam-master Dr. Tursman) and Will has put 6 ounces on since Saturday, so he is doing well. Which is a big relief. Especially for those unnamed people who look things up on the Internet and determine the diagnosis before (a)talking to someone who actually knows what they are talking about and (b)they themselves even know what they are talking about. On a completely unrelated note, did I mention I have sworn off using the Internet during times of concern with Will? he he

We received alot of support from friends and family over the weekend (basically to assure us that all was okay) and are very thankful for having such great people around us. One such family is the Luyt’s: Greg, Stephie, and Grady. They are always willing to lend advice, an ear, and even baby bathtubs to help us out. They stopped by last night so Greg could finally meet Will and the two of them hit it off pretty well. I think Will may be looking to edge me out of the jam session as soon as he can get his fingers wrapped around the neck of a guitar (though he arguably is already better than I am)…

Will will (hmmm… first downside to the name Will) be weighed later this week, so I will update again then. In the meantime, watch out for those manure piles. Your parent’s may get worried…
